New Rich Internet Application is out on the market – Pixlr, a web based image editor, was launched on 17th of August 2008! The most interesting thing is that is created by one person and is by far the closest image editor to Photoshop. Pixlr has layers, filters, adjusments, brushes, etc.
What can we say: WOW! Amazing!
The creator is Ola Sevandersson, a Sweden-based developer – he worked about 1 year in his spare time as he is full-time employed as development manager for a Swedish web community.
He used flash but had to rewrite a lot of it: “To get the performance up and keep the size down I have written all of the controls my self and not used the built in flash controls.” – as he said in this article.

Surely Adobe will have something to say about that site? They layout looks like an infringement to me.
great idea mind you and looks really nice. Just why on earth (unless they are (adobe friends or something) go for such an obvious photoshop rip-off layout. Isn’t this asking for trouble?

We can imagine different scenarios but we don’t really know how it will go. One scenario is that Adobe will acquire this application.
About the interface… you can say that it is like the GIMP’s interface. Almost all image editing softwares are alike. The interface is better to be common because the users can switch very easily from their old software to this.
I’m, also, waiting to see Adobe’s next move.
