Last days I found a very interesting and easy learning article about how Flex application can interact with PHP on the server-side. The article shows how this two technologies can work together. On the server-side Zend Framework, a MVC platform, which I used a lot is used to structure the application and to be able to have all kinds of client-sides (HTML, AJAX, Flash, Flex, etc).
